Saving Your Time, Your Money, and Your Home

Restoration 1 of Fort Wayne gets a lot of questions all day long, so we decided to save you some time and money by putting some of our most frequently asked questions right here for you to read. It might save you a phone call. It might also cause you to say, "Yes! These are the people I need!" Either way, feel free to give us a call any day, any time because we're always ready to help when you need us most.
  • What should I do first after a fire?

Your safety is the most important, so please call 911 immediately. When the fire is out, our experts can evaluate the extent of the damage. Contact us to assess the property and begin the early steps of restoration.

  • Does fire damage cleanup take long?

Cleanups can take a few hours up to a few weeks, depending on the extent of the damage. Property size and content in the location will affect how long everything takes. After we see the damage, you'll get an accurate estimate.

  • Should I inspect my home and contents after fire damage?

You should contact us first to assess the damage and protect your safety. A fire can easily affect the structural soundness of your home or business, and entering a damaged area can be a significant risk of injury.

  • Is it okay to try cleaning up myself?

If your property was damaged by fire, please leave the cleaning to our team. You may be at risk of inhaling residue and dangerous fumes, including carcinogens, left by the fire. We only use professional equipment in the cleaning process.

  • What will happen to the items left in the home during a fire restoration?

After a fire, we attempt to salvage as many personal belongings and home furnishings as possible. The items often have to be cleaned once they’re recovered. Unfortunately, there may be some items we can’t recover.

  • What are the most important safety concerns?

After a fire has occurred, please stay out of the building because of the potential damage to structural elements. There’s a real risk of inhaling harmful fumes caused by the fire. Unfortunately, post-fire situations involve carcinogens, so please wait for us to arrive and provide guidance.

  • Am I responsible for paying for your services?

Contacting your insurance company will help determine if you’re covered. If there are policy restrictions, you’ll need to know how our billing works so we can determine coverage of services. We suggest speaking with us before attempting the insurance claims process.

  • Can you contact my insurance adjuster?

If your insurance adjuster has any questions, we’ll be happy to speak with them.
